Catching Lizards

Yesterday, we decided to go up and catch some lizards with Mikenzee and Kyler (my niece and nephew). I made a lizard catching noose out of the end of a fishing pole and some fishing string(learned how to do it in college on a field trip). It was so fun! Shane wasn't really into it.....I guess he is too cool for that, he just rode his 4-wheeler. We caught 3 lizards pretty easy. Kyler even caught one. Even though Kennedi kept saying that she wasn't scared of them, they made her pretty nervous. I finally got her to pet one while I held it, she would just barely touch its tail.

Today, we we made the long trek home. Kennedi just cried when we had to leave this morning, she wanted to stay at grandma's for a long, long, long, time. I hate that she has to live so far away from all of our family! Hope it's not for much longer....we'll see.

Hiking

Today, we hiked up the hill by my parents' house to brown rock. When I was little, me and my friends always played up on these hills. It was fun to take kennedi up and show her. In the rocks, there are what looks to be little chairs, they have always been known as the "king and queen chair", so we sat in those and had a really good view of Moab. You can see my parents house in some of the pictures. Kennedi is so fearless, it's not the easiest trail, but she had to be the line leader the whole way, while she was looking for lizards.

Off to Moab!

On Wednesday, we drove to Moab for a visit. We haven't been here since Christmas so, Kennedi was really excited to come. It takes us about 7 1/2 hours to get here. It's a pretty boring drive, but driving through Monument Valley is really pretty. I snapped some pictures out of the window as we drove by...........

New Calling

Yesterday at church, I got released as a primary teacher, and was called to serve in the Young Womens as a Personal Progress Leader. I've never had a calling in Young Womens before, so I am really excited!! The girls in our ward are really cute and I will get to work with some good friends.

On her own.....

Kennedi has amazed me twice this week. First, was the other night when she was just goofing around before bedtime. She was putting on a little concert for me and Shane, just singing a bunch of random songs. Then, out of nowhere, she said The Pledge of Allegiance. We were totally shocked!!! We had no idea she knew it, she acted like it was no big deal and said she learned it at school. The second was this evening. For a while she has been wanting us to take her training wheels off her bike so she can ride it like a big girl. So we finally took them off and went out to teach her, Shane was all prepared to do the whole running behind her bit, but she just got on and took off, like she had been doing it all along.

Wii Party

Kennedi had her little friend Grant come over today and play. It is so funny to watch them, because Kennedi is like a foot taller then him. I could hear them playing up stairs and Kennedi kept calling Grant "honey", so I went up to check on them and asked Kennedi what they were doing. She told me they were just playing house. I asked her if she was calling Grant honey, and she said, "yeah mom, he's a boy, it's ok", like I was stupid for asking. Later they came down and played the Wii for a while. It is so funny to watch these little kids play this thing. They are just so stinkin smart!!! I couldn't beat Kennedi at a game of bowling if I tried!

My Obsession!

In January, my mom told me about the Twilight book series. For those who don't know about them, it is a story about a 17 yr old girl who falls in love with a vampire. So anyways, I started to read the first book, and couldn't seem to put it down, and this continued until I finished all three books. Shane was about to kill me because that was all I ever wanted to do (those who have read them know what I mean). So now, Twilight, the first book in the series is being made into a movie, so that just adds to my obsession. They are in the process of filming it right now. MTV justed posted this clip from the making of it.

Soccer

A few weeks ago, Kennedi started her first season of soccer. She was so excited! She is the only girl on the team, she is the youngest, and she is the tallest (of course). It is so fun to watch her play. We didn't really know what to expect from her, but she is AWESOME!! Her first game, she dominated. We didn't keep track, but I think she made 6 or more goals by herself. Her team name is Zebras, and she is always telling me that "Zebras don't quit, huh mom", her coach must have told them that during a game or something. The second week, she was getting a little frustrated because they played a better team, called the Scooby Doos, and she only made 2 or 3 goals. Every time it was her turn to sit out, she would say "the Scooby Doos are just too fast".

Hello Friends and Family

Ok, so I have been meaning to start a blog for a while now, and I just keep putting it off. I don't even know what I am doing at this point, so for all of my friends that have these adorable blogs, mine is going to be a work in progress for a while until I can get it down. I am very excited about it though. As you all know, we live in Chandler, AZ, and we don't live by any of our family, so this will be a good way for everyone to keep up with our little family. I hope you enjoy it!
